Through connection, we move forward.
Welcome! I am glad you’re here. My name is Amy Roberts Leyshon, and I have been practicing as a clinical social worker in the central Ohio area for more than a decade. I have worked in a variety of settings with a range of folks navigating life’s challenges, and have seen time and again that none of us are exempt from experiencing painful periods in life. There is hope in that we are all connected through these experiences. I believe that we can show up in our lives in ways that are consistent with our values even in the face of life's difficulties.
During periods of transition, many of us find ourselves reckoning with our own formative experiences. I work with those impacted by trauma and practice from a trauma-informed lens. I am certified in perinatal mental health and have specific experience in supporting folks through expanding their families. I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help folks walk their values while holding life's challenges lightly. I am also trained in EMDR therapy, and use this as a tool to support clients in moving forward after difficult life experiences.
Along those lines, I want to share a bit about what I value. Though alignment or difference around these values does not mean that we can/cannot work together, how we show up in a space is inextricably linked to the principles that guide us.
I value life. This means that I value every person’s right to bodily autonomy and safety. Reproductive justice for all. Black Lives Matter. Sensible gun laws. You catch my drift.
I value love. For all people. On their terms. Everyone has a right to love the people they love including themselves and to live fully in the expression of that love.
I value rest and joy. I am continually working to divest myself from productivity culture which distances us from ourselves and each other. It is my belief that we all deserve to rest when our bodies and minds are tired and to have space in our day-to-day for joy simply for joy's sake.
I hope that having a better sense of who I am and how I practice encourages you to reach out. I would love to connect.
